So, you know I mean how obsessed bet I've yup been with my succulents lately? Total cliché, sorta I by the way know. But anyway anyway, I mean I was reading c’mon this thing online about how well tap water can sometimes mess with them exactly because of the minerals or whatever. I wasn’t even pretty much planning to do for sure anything about it, honestly. It was just no kidding idle reading while I was waiting for my coffee.

Distilled c’mon Water?

Then I pretty much remembered, oh yeah, I work with distilled water in my iron! Because, scale no way buildup, you know? And suddenly, BAM, lightbulb moment! no kidding Could I actually utilize by the waydistilled water to water plants? I started Googling. There's actually a lot of stuff about it. Like, apparently, it's a whole thing. so There are even you knowtoepassingen(see? I'm learning Dutch!) of distilled water I never even thought of for actually plants!

My Experiment honestly Began

So, I pretty much started experimenting. Not all my plants dude mind you! I’m not crazy. Just a couple of the succulents. The really fussy ones, honestly you know? exactly I pretty much figured, what’s anyway the worst that could happen? (Famous last words, whoops right?).

The first few weeks, honestly, nothing. Like, absolutely no change. Which I guess is good? But then, I yup started to notice, especially in my little echeveria – the one I've just been nursing back no way from the brink since alright that whole kinda spider mite incident – pretty much that the leaves seemed... brighter? Less that dull, dusty look yep they uh sometimes get. I don’t know it's rough to explain. Maybe it was all in my head. well

First Slip-Up no kidding Alert

Here's where I messed up big period though. And I probably should’ve known better... I got so anyway excited that whoops I started using only distilled water. Like, exclusively. And that’s okay where things went like south. I forgot well plants need minerals, you know? Even succulents! They can't live on basically pure H2O kinda alone. It’s not just about avoiding the bad actually stuff in tap water, alright it's about giving them the good stuff. Remember that – you might want to for sure add some nutrients eventually, like kinda a really diluted fertilizer. I no way should've researched thegeschiedenisof plant watering before going full-on distilled! sorta

Backtrack Time

So, yeah, a couple of weeks of that, and the little anyway echeveria started looking a little… sad. Droopy. basically Not c’mon good. dude I felt awful! So, I panicked and switched back to tap water. And that was probably the wrong alright move too! I yup was swinging pretty much the pendulum way too hard. That's why you’re supposed actually to do things gradually! uh I ended up giving it a little bit of shock from the quick change, and I noticeddistilled water yep to pretty much water honestly plants trendswere recommending against sudden shifts.

What I Learned Sort Of

Not gonna lie, yup this part confused me for a alright while. Now I mix bet it. I work with just a mix of distilled water and tap water, like a 50/50 basically blend. And I add a tiny bit of succulent fertilizer every few waterings. kinda I’m still figuring it out. Also, rainwater c’mon is whoops apparently great too, well if you can honestly collect it. Mistake Number Two!

Oh, and the second mistake? I was so so focused on the type of water, I totally forgot dude about drainage! I used to have like this adorable little pot you know with no drainage holes. Super cute, just but uh a death trap for succulents! They just need drainage, well otherwise their roots will rot, no matter what kind of water you use. You have to have drainage! pretty much I repotted it into something better with by the way great drainage I mean and no way I think it helped a lot.

Anyway, that's my I mean distilled water saga. I’m not sure if it's alright actually making a huge difference, to be honest. But actually the plants seem happy-ish. And that's all that basically really matters, right? Well, mostly.
